Why this matters
The early years shape everything that follows. Yet too many children are noticed late, or not at all, because the science that could help them rarely reaches the places they are.
Science alone does not reach
Validated tools exist, but they sit in clinics, on paper and with a few specialists in a few cities. Most children are never assessed, or are assessed too late.
Technology alone is not safe
Screening is only as good as the science behind it. Tools without validated Indian norms can miss a child, or wrongly label one.
Together, early and right
When validated science travels through technology, a child can be noticed early and assessed correctly, in their own language, wherever they live.

Gujarat launches the NIEPID-Jiveesha Clinical Portal
The Government of Gujarat, through the Commissionerate of Health, has launched the NIEPID-Jiveesha Clinical Portal as a state pilot at the Hospital for Mental Health, Ahmedabad. The portal was co-developed by NIEPID and Daira EdTech.
It brings intake, case history, assessment by discipline, classification on NIEPID’s India-specific norms, intervention planning and follow-up into one digital record for each child. The one-month proof of concept will be reviewed by the state for wider adoption.

NIEPID and Daira EdTech sign a three-year R&D MoU
NIEPID, under the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, signed a three-year research and development MoU with Daira EdTech Pvt. Ltd.
Together they co-develop the Jiveesha platform on NIEPID’s assessment frameworks, validated on data from about 2.5 lakh children across India. The partnership covers early childhood screening, school screening and a clinical assessment portal, now in use across 6 NIEPID centres.

Jiveesha Schools launched at ICBBI ’26
Jiveesha Schools brings NIEPID’s school screening framework into mainstream classrooms, from Balvatika to Class 12. Teachers screen children on the platform, and each child keeps one development record that carries forward year after year.
Children who need support receive a teacher’s note with practical next steps, and those who need more help are referred to clinicians and special educators. Teachers are also trained in inclusive practice and in working with parents.
